According to a recent report, mutual interest exists between Jamal Crawford and the New York Knicks. Should New York sign the three-time Sixth Man of the Year?

Team president Phil Jackson is in the process of building a starting lineup that can lead the New York Knicks to the 2017 NBA Playoffs. As has been proven countless times before, however, the strength of a starting lineup can be crippled by the weakness of the second unit.

The search for depth has inevitably led New York to considering the man who may be the most decorated sixth man in NBA history: Jamal Crawford.

Crawford is one of the few players who emerged from the abomination that was the 2000 NBA Draft. He’s carved out a tremendous 16-year career, playing for six teams and making four stops that lasted multiple seasons.

According to Frank Isola of The New York Daily News, Crawford and the Knicks share mutual interest in a potential reunion.

"Crawford, 36, has strong support within the Knicks organization and that feeling appears to be mutual. “I’m not talking about any one team but everyone knows how I feel about New York,” Crawford told The News. “I really enjoyed my time there.”"

Dan Woike of The Orange County Register also reported the Knicks’ interest in signing Crawford.

Crawford played for the Knicks from 2004 to 2008. During that time, he averaged 17.5 points and 4.4 assists in 36.9 minutes of court time, and shot 34.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Though his minutes are likely to come down, the hope is that Crawford would provide similar production if New York were to sign him in 2016.

The Knicks have a significant void at shooting guard due to the departure of 2015-16 starters Arron Afflalo and Sasha Vujacic. Justin Holiday could see playing time at the 2, and re-signing Langston Galloway would inevitably strengthen the position.

The question is, should Jackson sign Crawford to be the glue at an otherwise unstable position?
