Successfully making it through NBA free agency is all about taking calculated risks. No player is guaranteed to fit in any situation, but the best general managers are those who properly balance the pros and cons, and make a final decision based on which tips the scales.

No player embodies the risky nature of NBA free agency quite like restricted free agent shooting guard Bradley Beal.

Beal finished the 2015-16 season with averages of 17.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.0 steal, and 1.9 3-point field goals made in 31.1 minutes per game. He did so on an efficient slash line of .449/.387/.767.

According to Marc Berman of The New York PostBeal’s smooth shooting stroke has him on the New York Knicks’ free agency radar.

"Jackson appears to be leaning at better value in adding a pair of athletic, versatile shooting guard/swingman along the lines of DeMar DeRozan, Evan Turner, Kent Bazemore, Nicolas Batum or Bradley Beal instead of a true point guard."

Beal’s an interesting target, to say the very least.

Beal has his fair share of red flags, which create his polarizing status. He also possesses a skill set that’d fit head coach Jeff Hornacek‘s projected alterations to the Triangle Offense.

The question is, should the Knicks make a run at signing Beal?
