The New York Knicks need a new head coach. That much is clear as day, as the Knicks have built the foundation for success around Carmelo Anthony, Robin Lopez, and Kristaps Porzingis, but still haven’t a concrete idea as to who will lead those players into 2016-17.

There have been no shortage of stories pertaining to whom the Knicks will hire.

In most instances, reports have centered around the candidates whom team president Phil Jackson views as the most ideal of candidates. In another intriguing development, the franchise player’s preferred choice was allegedly revealed.

In other words, the rumor mill is functioning in the manner expected of it.

It all starts with Ian Begley of ESPN New York reporting that Jackson will hire someone with whom he has a strong personal relationship. That’s not to be confused with Jackson being unwilling to reach out to those he’s currently unfamiliar with, but it’s a sign that more is going into this search than coaching prowess.

The question is, who does Jackson have his eye on?
