The New York Knicks have a number of pending free agents on the radar. Which potential options must New York keep a close eye on until season’s end?

The New York Knicks will enter the 2016 period of NBA free agency with a grand, but limited financial opportunity. The cap space exists for New York to make a significant splash under the rising salary cap, but player options and undesirable salaries project to prevent the Knicks from offering a max contract to the biggest of names on the market.

Thus, the manner in which Phil Jackson evaluates pending free agents will be different from that of the average executive with cap space to burn.

The obvious options for New York—perennial MVP candidates such as Kevin Durant and LeBron James—are excluded from this list. The options included are the players who have clear appeal, but possess question marks that require a deeper evaluation.

A strong ending to the 2015-16 NBA season could be enough to prove that they deserve to be invested in as short or long-term options for the Knicks.

The question is, who should New York be watching and what should it be watching for?
