The New York Knicks are approaching one of the most important summers in franchise history. The same was said a year ago, but Phil Jackson is heading towards a monumental decision that will forever alter the trajectory of the organization.

The question at hand: who should be the next head coach of the Knicks?

We’ve already reviewed the candidates who fall under the realistic and probable tags. Beyond the obvious options, however, are a number of possibilities who range from under the radar to generally unconsidered for such a significant position.

Every championship team requires a certain measure of successfully gambling, however, and that brings the following candidates into the spotlight.

Not all will be considered, and most are expected to either be hired elsewhere or remain in their current position. Nevertheless, it’s worth weighing all options when the future of Knicks basketball is what’s on the line.

The question is, who should New York consider if it’s to think outside the box?
