The New York Knicks are entering far too familiar territory. There’s a big-name player on the roster in Carmelo Anthony, but generally speaking, the roster is flush with young and unproven talent.

Here’s the thing: the 2015-16 Knicks won’t be like any incarnation in recent memory.

For the first time since trading for Carmelo Anthony, New York has building blocks on its roster. They may not be Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari and Timofey Mozgov, but they could be.

That’s what makes this group so much more intriguing than people are giving it credit for.

Phil Jackson, Steve Mills and company have built a roster with developable talent. The star potential is debatable, and some may even be dealt by the 2016 NBA Trade Deadline, but the potential is real.

In 2015-16, the Knicks’ season will be all about a very promising youth movement.
