The Los Angeles Clippers jumped on the New York Knicks’ throat early on Wednesday night’s game. The Clippers were ahead 16-4 mid-way through the opening quarter, this was due to DeAndre Jordan just dunking it out there like it was a Slam Dunk Contest and Matt Barnes getting hot from beyond the arc, knocking down back to back three-pointers early on.

The quick deficit was also due to the fool’s gold that is Andrea Bargnani. Bargnani knocked down his first shot of the game and that seemed to have gotten his confidence up because he was extremely aggressive afterwards, looking for his own shots in the next couple of minutes. Bargnani would miss all three shot attempts in that span, and was immediately taken out of the game at the team’s next dead ball. Bargnani was 1/4 in six minutes of action in the first quarter.

About the only thing that went well next, was that Cleanthony Early showed he knew how to handle his time management well, shooting a three, getting a two-for-one opportunity with 30.4 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Early knocked the shot down from beyond the arc to cut the deficit to single digits 26-17.

The Clippers put on a clinic of how to play team basketball, converting 57% of their attempts from the field, with an assist (12) on every made field goal (12). Los Angeles led 28-17 after one quarter of play.

More from Daily Knicks

New York was held to 35% shooting from the field in the first quarter, this only got worse in the second quarter…as the Knicks converted on only three made field goals in the second quarter. New York shot 18.8% from the field in the period, as the Clippers lead by 30 points entering intermission. Chris Paul had a dozen assist by halftime! Jordan almost collected a double-double with 10 points (all dunks…) and 7 rebounds. Austin Rivers and J.J. Redick joined Jordan in double figures at the half with ten and 15 respectively. Barnes and Blake Griffin almost cracked the double figures club as well, both scoring eight points by halftime. Points were just given out everywhere! O yea…and stuff like this occurred A LOT!

Ricky Ledo; another ten day contract player, was the only player who seemed to know how to put the basketball through the 18 inch diameter hoop… Ledo was the lone Knick to convert any field goals in the second quarter, scoring eight of his 12 total points in the period. The rest of New York shot 0/11 from the field in the second quarter.

Los Angeles continued to put a stomping on New York after the half, pushing the lead up to as many as 40 points. The Clippers completely showed no mercy for the Knicks, continuing to suffocate New York on the defensive end. The Knicks only converted a third of their attempts in the third quarter (I guess that is better than 18.8 %…).

Los Angeles finished the game with six players in double figures scoring as the Clippers stomped the Knicks 111-80 Wednesday night. Ten more games to go…and this season is finally over…
