Saturday night the New York Knicks took on a well-rested Golden State Warriors team, as Steve Kerr rested all his key players Friday night.

Alexey Shved scored the first five points for New York, knocking down a three-pointer and then getting to the free throw line after being Stephen Curry foolishly fouled Shved while he was attempting a three. Curry quickly made up for it, knocking down back to back three-pointers of his own in 15 seconds. Curry on the ensuing possession took a heat check shot, near the hash mark, a good five feet behind the three-point line. Curry did not connect on the shot, but would make up for it on the next play, getting a pretty behind the back assist to Andrew Bogut for a slam dunk, tying the game up at ten with 7:55 remaining in the first quarter.

At the end of the first quarter New York led 27-26 in a very entertaining game with six ties and four lead changes, despite both teams shooting poorly. New York shot 40% from the field, while Golden State shot 37.5% from the field.

Derek Fisher picked up a technical with 2:15 remaining in the first half, after Andrea Bargnani got mauled and didn’t get a call, leading to a Shaun Livingston slam dunk the other way, which gave the Warriors a 59-47 lead. Fisher showed some emotion after reports of Fisher having a difference in an opinion with Phil Jackson on how demonstrative he should be with the referees.

The technical did not inspire the Knicks, instead New York gave up a 14-5 run to end the quarter. Curry exploded in the run, scoring ten of the 14 points, getting chants of M-V-P while attempting the technical free throw, then knocking down back to back threes, before finally beating the buzzer at the half for another three-pointer.
