NBA Rumors: Knicks show interest in Jordan Crawford

It has been a fairly slow offseason for the New York Knicks, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are all done shopping.

The Knicks have a full roster and moves would need to be made to add to this team, but team president Phil Jackson could still pull the trigger on another deal, although that seems a bit unlikely at this point.

If Jackson is able to free up a roster spot, could be designed to target guard Jordan Crawford?

Charlie Adams of Hoops Rumors reported that the Knicks, Chicago Bulls Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Brooklyn Nets have all had various degrees of interest in Crawford.

Adams wrote:

Several squads were said to have interest in the former first-rounder, with the Bulls, Mavericks, Lakers, Knicks, and Nets all being mentioned as possible suitors. Since more than a couple of those teams have now supplemented their backcourts with other players, a question arises: why hasn’t Crawford found a team? It’s possible that the Creative Artists Agency client is holding out for more than the minimum salary, which is the most any of those clubs could offer him, as Hoops Rumors details. However, his lack of playing time in Golden State might have hindered his chances at drawing anything above that sum, so he might need to settle on such an amount.

There aren’t many talented free agents left on the market, but Crawford is a guy who has shown the ability to be a talented scorer at times throughout his NBA career.

However what makes the Knicks interest in Crawford extremely odd is the fact that not only is their roster currently full, but they have a ton of guards on it. That alone makes you wonder where exactly Crawford would fit.

Throw in the fact that Crawford and Carmelo Anthony have had beef in the past and it seems even stranger.

Crawford averaged 11.0 points, 3.5 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game this season split between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors. He’s averaged 12.2 points, 3.2 assists and 2.6 rebounds per game in his four-year NBA career, also spending time with the Washington Wizards and Atlanta Hawks.

What I do know is that the Knicks do like Crawford for some reason as this isn’t the first time they have shown interest in him.
