NBA Rumors: Is Carmelo Anthony Miami bound?

Well Carmelo Anthony could be teaming with LeBron James after all.

At least that is feeling that most of the NBA has at the moment after Anthony is reportedly still torn on where he wants to sign.

While there is no need for Anthony to rush this decision, as it is an important one, needless to say the New York Knicks are feeling very uneasy at the moment about Anthony returning.

After offering ‘Melo a max deal, the Knicks expected an answer by Monday. That obviously didn’t happen.

Now reports suggest that ‘Melo is holding out on the possibility of teaming with James in Miami.

The wildcard here is Chris Bosh, who reportedly has been offered a max deal from the Houston Rockets.

It basically boils down to if Bosh takes the money and heads to Houston, it frees up the money for the Heat to throw at Anthony.

Marc Berman of the New York Post adds to that in regarding Anthony’s interest in teaming up with LeBron James:

The Knicks expected Carmelo Anthony’s decision by Monday, but heard only crickets. A growing belief within the organization is Anthony is waiting to make sure there is no possible way of hooking up with LeBron James in Miami or Los Angeles.

While Anthony monitors the South Beach drama, James is expected to meet with Heat president Pat Riley. The Post has reported the Big 4 scenario was virtually impossible, but if power forward Chris Bosh is wowed by the money in Texas, either Dallas or Houston, that could open a spot for a new Big 3 of James, Anthony and Wade splitting the remaining cap space.

However, that scenario became trickier with Miami agreeing to terms with Josh McRoberts and Danny Granger on Monday, though not impossible. If Wade takes a significant pay cut, Riley can be creative in fitting James and his buddy Anthony under the salary cap.

Of course Bosh also is likely waiting until LeBron makes a decision, so this could draw out for a while.

With Anthony not immediately taking the Knicks money and reportedly still weighing offers from the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks and the Rockets, the Knicks have to be less confident by the day.

If Bosh ends up signing in Houston, Phil Jackson and company should be very nervous as Anthony very well could take his talents to South Beach.
