NBA Rumors: New York Knicks looking to move Larkin, Dalembert

Its draft day and the NBA Rumors are circling like crazy and naturally the New York Knicks are at the center of plenty.

After yesterday’s deal that saw Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton moved to Dallas for Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert, Shane Larkin, Wayne Ellington and a pair of second round picks, Knicks team president may be at it again prior to Thursday night’s draft.

With that being said, Larkin and Dalembert’s stay in the Big Apple could be a short one.

According to Chris Herring of The Wall Street Journal, the Knicks are trying to flip both Larkin and Dalembert just one day after acquiring both players.

The Knicks have long been rumored to seeking a first round pick, as well as cap flexibility for the 2015-16 season. Both Dalembert’s and Larkin’s contracts can come off the books by then, so presumably New York would be seeking a draft pick and not a player out of the pair.

They likely could package both players and perhaps one of their newly acquired second round picks in order to move into the first round.

Larkin was selected No. 18 overall in the 2013 draft, and spent time playing point guard between Dallas and their D-League affiliate throughout the season. He averaged 10.2 minutes in 48 NBA contests. However I really like his potential and he could turn into a very nice NBA player. Larkin could be viewed as the Knicks point guard of the future and it would be a shame to send him packing already.

However if Jackson could turn him into a better player that could help more now it would be a logical move.

Dalembert has played with different teams in each of the last four seasons, and the center appears on his way to play for his fifth team in five years, as there is no real fit with him on the Knicks, especially now that the triangle offense is being installed and the Knicks need a quality passing big man.

Herring didn’t list any teams that the Knicks are talking to, but it is apparent that Jackson isn’t done making moves as he also is still dangling Iman Shumpert out there for a first round pick.

Needless to say it could be a very interesting day for Knicks fans.
