Optimistic New York Knicks’ fans shield your eyes!!

The most likely scenario where Amar’e Stoudemire gets traded is if Carmelo Anthony leaves and the Knicks are looking to just blow it all up.

If that happens the Knicks will essentially rent out their cap space by dealing their expiring deals like STAT in return for either young talent or draft picks in addition to the awful contracts they will take back.

With that being said, here are the five potential trades for the guy who once beat LeBron James and Kobe Bryant in offensive win shares (2007-08).

Denver Nuggets: JaVale McGee, J.J. Hickson, Darrell Arthur, and the Knicks 2014 first round draft pick.

This trade would really signal a new regime is here for the Knicks. It’s not often the orange and blue trade for a draft pick.

The deal would also be the definition of a cost cutting move for the Nuggets. It would save the Nuggets about $17.6 million in 2015-16 with dropping Mcgee ($12 million) and Hickson ($5.6 million). It would also drop their cap number to about $24 million going into next offseason, allowing them to make a splash in free agency or pull off a trade that requires they take some salary back.

For the Knicks, they don’t really get anything of value from the players. McGee is a big question mark both in consistent production and in his leg fracture. A lower body injury for a big man is always alarming to say the least. The Knicks would be doing this because they’re trying to rebuild and would benefit greatly from a first round pick in this year’s draft to help expedite the process.
