There has been plenty of talk about New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony potentially signing with the Chicago Bulls this summer.
There has also been plenty of talk of current Bulls’ center Joakim Noah actively recruiting ‘Melo to Chicago.
But ultimately could Anthony and Noah somehow end up teammates in New York?
A sign-and-trade deal likely could send Anthony to Chicago, but according to some it could be the other way around as Noah could ultimately come to New York.
New York is about stars. Plus, they have a shot at LeBron next summer if they hang onto ‘Melo; not if they lose him. So Phil’s got to get a star if he loses Anthony. I’ve heard this one: The Knicks get Noah and the Bulls get Tyson Chandler, a good expiring deal so they can go after Kevin Love next year, and Iman Shumpert, who is from Chicago and a good defender who Thibs would like and Pablo Prigioni, a good backup point if they lose Augustin and Hinrich.
While that is a nice thought, it is as unlikely as any scenario imaginable.
The Bulls aren’t likely to start over, something they would be signaling with this move.
The Knicks are less likely to make the move as well as even if they do re-sign ‘Melo, it makes more sense to remained focused on 2015 instead of pulling the trigger on a panic trade to try and save face next season.
Anthony and Noah very well could be teammates next season, but despite the rumor, it is far more likely to be in Chicago than in New York.
