The NBA announced today that the Philadelphia 76ers’ Michael Carter-Williams has won Rookie of the Year. It isn’t much of a surprise — Carter-Williams posted some lofty numbers in his first season in the NBA, playing as almost a lone bright spot for a pitiful 76ers squad. Many considered the Orlando Magic’s Victor Oladipo to be the only true competition.

However, New York Knicks rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. got some love in the voting, too. For the first time, the NBA has shown which players members of the media voted for in the awards season. Hardaway Jr. got some love from a… suspicious, we’ll say — source.

What’s the deal, Steve Kerr?! Tampering?! Trying to show some love for the FUTURE STARTING GUARD OF THE NEW YORK KNICKS, WHO YOU ARE TOTALLY GOING TO COACH?!

The vote didn’t go unnoticed, either. Chris Herring also made a past observation of Kerr’s feelings for Timmy Jr.

In the Knicks games that Kerr called for TNT, he did show a preference for Hardaway Jr.’s game. Tim still has a lot of room to go, but he showed NBA-level athleticism and finishing ability at the rim and he can spread the floor nicely, too. Enough to make him Rookie of the Year? Probably not (Kerr was the only one to give him a first-place vote), but the argument for Hardaway Jr. would be that he was an important rotational piece for a winning team. Oh yeah, the Knicks only won 37 games.

I feel like we’re going to get an announcement of Steve Kerr’s decision very soon, and I think that announcement will make him the next coach of the Knicks.
