New York Knicks Rumors: Bulls' Joakim Noah recruiting Carmelo Anthony?

New York Knicks’ superstar Carmelo Anthony future beyond this season is on everyone’s mind, especially other NBA players who would love to see ‘Melo join their current team when he hits free agency this summer.

When Anthony headed to New Orleans last month for the NBA All-Star Game, you had to expect that he was going to hear a ton of recruiting pitches from his peers.

That was apparently the case indeed, most notably from Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah.

ESPN’s Chris Broussard reported on Thursday that Noah actively recruited Anthony during All-Star Weekend. He also noted that both sides would deny it if asked as that would violate the NBA’s tampering rules.

Broussard noted that Anthony said he loves how the Bulls play the game hard and with heart, something you can’t say about his current teammates.

Anthony also reportedly left the door open by saying that his son’s favorite player just happens to be Bulls’ point guard Derrick Rose.

It has long been speculated that the Bulls would be on ‘Melo’s short list of destinations should he choose to leave New York after this season.

Chicago could easily create cap space by using the amnesty clause on Carlos Boozer and trading Mike Dunleavy Jr., which would free up close to $19 million. It wouldn’t be the $22 million he could earn on the first year of a max contract but Anthony has indicated that he could take a little less money on the open market for a legitimate opportunity to win.

Regardless of whether Noah recruited Anthony and whether he listened or not, the Melo to the Bulls story is one that is not going to go away any time in the near future.
