New York Knicks Rumors: Kevin Love won't be an option in 2015

Many New York Knicks fans are masking their disappointment from this season by thinking that the New York Knicks will load up in 2015 by attracting stars such as Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love.

Before you get your hopes up for two years, just come with the realization now that it is not going to happen.

Why it won’t basically boils down to three main reasons.

The first of which is simply because James Dolan and the Knicks front office will likely screw things up before then.

That’s what they do. Two years is a long time and no one should have any confidence in the Knicks’ brass to get the job done. They haven’t earned that right and judging by past history, some panic moves will be upcoming this summer and at next trade deadline that will likely screw up all of their cap room before 2015.

Secondly there is the fact that they have no selling points.

The Knicks have no young talent not named Tim Hardaway Jr. and no draft picks to accumulate said talent any time in the near future. This isn’t just about Love, but most major free agents as well. They see what goes on in New York and likely won’t want to be a part of the ongoing circus.

Add in the fact that Love is a California guy and why would he want to come to New York? If his team is going to be a mess, he might as well get some sun in the process.

The final and likely most important reason is Carmelo Anthony.

There are going to have to be some conditions met for ‘Melo to re-sign with the Knicks after this season and one of those conditions likely will revolve around him remaining at the 4.

Anthony has been on record as saying he would like to stay there, which means bringing in another power forward such as Love or Portland’s LaMarcus Aldridge, will almost be out of the question in 2015, providing Melo stays.

So while Knicks fans are assembling their fantasy roster for 2015, be realistic.

The Knicks will eventually screw things up as that is their M.O.  And the only way they can attract a player like Love is if Anthony is wearing another uniform by then.
