Many expect the New York Knicks to be very busy on deadline day and they are very active this morning, but not close to making a deal.
Here’s a look at where the Knicks are at with just under seven hours until the deadline comes and goes.
There’s a very good chance that the Knicks move Udrih in a minor deal and while we looked at the Washington Wizards still showing interest in Udrih as of yesterday afternoon, the most likely landing place could be the Denver Nuggets.
According to Stein, a source close to the situation says that if talks were to progress into a serious stage, one likely scenario would involve Shumpert and Udrih in exchange for Faried and Hamilton. The issue, however, is that New York hasn’t been able to persuade Denver to consider the idea.
A Udrih for Hamilton swap will also likely depend on whether the Nuggets are able to unload Andre Miller.
-Knicks trying to re-engage Clippers on talks for Darren Collison
Those talks are dead based on the fact that no team in the NBA wants Felton, but the Knicks keep using him as one of their top trade pieces.
The Knicks are most interested in the Felton-for-Bullock part of the exchange, according to Chad Ford of ESPN.com, who believes the Clippers would prefer to substitute Matt Barnes for Bullock, and would also want Udrih rather than Felton.
Those talks died thanks to the Knicks insistence that the Clippers take Felton and Stein added that Shumpert is only available in exchange for a first round pick or alongside Felton.
The Knicks are pushing to revive the talks, Stein and Begley write, but the Clippers are still hesitant to take on Felton and it is unclear how Shumpert’s knee injury suffered Wednesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans will impact any trade talk.
New York is committed to moving both Shumpert and Felton today. We will find out in a matter of hours if there are any takers.
