Throughout this disaster of a season, the New York Knicks have been linked to potential trades pretty much since the opening weeks of the season.

It all started with the Knicks trying to prey Kenneth Faried away from the Denver Nuggets in exchange for Iman Shumpert.

That’s something that the Knicks appear to not be giving up on.

The Knicks continue to show interest in Faried, tweets Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders. New York is still willing to send off Shumpert in exchange for Faried, but their attempts to create a similar deal earlier this season fell through.

It’s also worth noting that the Knicks aren’t the only ones in pursuit of Faried as the deadline quickly approaches. Toronto Raptors GM Masai Ujiri has expressed interest in Faried as well, whom he drafted for the Nuggets. A Faried deal for the Knicks makes little sense as bringing in an undersized power forward would force Carmelo Anthony to have to move from the 4, his best position, and go back to the small forward spot. That is something that Melo has indicated he doesn’t want to do. Then there is the fact that the Knicks pursuit of Faried, like any other player they have attempted to land, comes down to the fact that the Knicks have nothing substantial to offer teams in terms of quality young players and draft picks for the immediate future. At the end of the day while the Knicks seem to be kicking the tires on players so James Dolan and Steve Mills can say they tried to make deals, Thursday is likely to be a very quiet deadline day for the Knicks.
