New York Knicks Rumors: James Dolan met with Carmelo Anthony about Woodson

It appears that New York Knicks’ head coach Mike Woodson‘s seat is so hot that if he sits down he is in danger of being severely burned.

According to reports, New York Knicks’ owner James Dolan, who was on the record last month of saying there would be no roster changes, is so angry with the Knicks 19-30 record that he is contemplating making a coaching change.

Dolan has also reportedly consulted Carmelo Anthony on the situation.

According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, Dolan and Anthony met recently to discuss the direction of this team and whether Woodson is the right man to lead it.

Isola wrote:

James Dolan’s visit to the Knicks’ locker room late Wednesday included a high-level meeting with Carmelo Anthony and at least one other player to discuss the state of the club and whether a coaching change is necessary, the Daily News has learned.

According to a team source, Dolan is obviously troubled by the Knicks’ 19-30 record and is contemplating removing head coach Mike Woodson. The Knick hierarchy is divided on whether Woodson has lost the locker room and the chairman of Madison Square Garden was wise to take the temperature of the franchise player. Dolan, though, also runs the risk of alienating Anthony if the public perception is that the All-Star forward, who is extremely sensitive to the notion that he is a “coach killer,” is at all responsible for running Woodson out of town.

It’s nothing new for a star player to have input on a coaching change.  That’s certainly nothing new to Anthony as he ran Mike D’Antoni out of town two years ago as well.

It’s also wise to consult with Anthony as retaining Woodson or not could play a major role in whether or not Melo re-signs with the Knicks in the offseason.

In addition to the recent reports that Woodson continues to lose the locker room, Dolan meeting with Anthony isn’t good news for his future with the team.

Once you get Dolan on a rampage there is no stopping him.

Given the latest developments we very well could see a coaching change sooner rather than later.
