Earlier in the week I had reported the fact that New York Knicks’ point guard Beno Udrih had requested to be traded.

While that is still the case and Udrih wisely wants out of this current disaster, he hasn’t been pressing the issue.

Udrih isn’t applying undue pressure on the Knicks, and it’s not a foregone conclusion that he’ll be dealt, a source tells Marc Berman of the New York Post. Udrih’s agent, Marc Cornstein, was to set to speak with Knicks GM Steve Mills prior to last night’s game.

Even though starting point guard Raymond Felton wasn’t very good again last night in a loss to the Sixers, Udrih received another DNP from Knicks head coach Mike Woodson.

The Knicks originally stated they would attempt to honor Udrih’s request, according to league sources.

The backup point guard has had publicized issues with Woodson in his first year with the team. The veteran has been disappointed in a lack of minutes alongside Felton, a rotation he says was pitched to him as a free agent.

As I mentioned before, it will be difficult for the Knicks to obtain anything of value in a Udrih trade as the cap hit for Udrih’s one-year contract is only $884,293. His small price tag would limit what kind of salary the Knicks could take back in return since they are already over the cap.
