New York Knicks Rumors: Amar'e Stoudemire, Kenyon Martin both likely out two weeks

Injuries have played a big role for the New York Knicks struggles this season and after their blowout loss Thursday night to the Indiana Pacers, the Knicks thin frontline will be even thinner for the next couple of weeks.

Stoudemire had an MRI Friday after spraining his ankle Thursday against the Pacers, which revealed a bone bruise in addition to the sprain. STAT tweeted that it will be a week or two before he returns to the lineup.

Prior to exiting the game, the oft-injured big man had eight points and three rebounds in 14 minutes on the court. The same goes for Martin, who also sprained his ankle Thursday night. Newsday‘s Al Iannazzone offers an update on Martin’s status, which will likely keep him out the same amount of time as Stoudemire.

With Tyson Chandler still recovering from illness, the Knicks frontline is once again a mess.

Chandler and Andrea Bargnani will start, but who backs them up for the next couple weeks?

Knicks head coach Mike Woodson will likely have to turn to youngsters Jeremy Tyler and Cole Aldrich or he will finally have to go back to playing small ball, something he has been unwilling to do even though the team had success with the strategy a year ago.

The Knicks have been one of the worst rebounding squads in the NBA this season, which is part of the reason for its struggle to a record well below .500.

Without Stoudemire and Martin in the lineup, that problem stands to get much worse.
