New York Knicks: Amar'e Stoudemire to be revaevaluated on Friday

There are two things that any New York Knicks fan never wants to hear in the same sentence- the name Amar’e Stoudemire and the phrase MRI.

Just hearing those together is terrifying as nothing good usually comes out of it, but after injuring his ankle in Thursday night’s blowout loss to the Indiana Pacers, that is the path that STAT could be heading down once again.

The New York Post reports that Stoudemire will be reevaluated Friday and could need an MRI exam. He is holding out hope he could be back in one week.

“Hopefully sooner than later” Stoudemire said. “I’m not sure. We’ll see how it feels [Friday]. Right now it’s throbbing pretty well now because the trauma happened not so long ago. ’’

As with any injury to Stoudemire, even something as minor as a sprained ankle, you have to hold your breath and just hope for a good outcome.

The latest setback to STAT comes at the worst possible time as he has been playing pretty well.

Stoudemire is averaging 9.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, but since December 1 has posted averages of nearly 12 points and over five rebounds per night.

With Kenyon Martin also going down with a sprained ankle, the Knicks front line is once again very thin, which continues to be a huge problem.
