Tyson Chandler out for Knicks Saturday vs. Sixers

When the New York Knicks take the floor Saturday looking for their fourth consecutive win against the Philadelphia 76ers, they unfortunately will have to do so without center Tyson Chandler.

The All-Star center will miss his third straight game Saturday due to an upper respiratory illness, the team announced, as Chandler didn’t even make the trip to Philadelphia.

Playing without Chandler is something the Knicks should be used to by now as it has happened quite often the past couple of seasons, but it will still be difficult for the Knicks to go without the anchor of their defense.

The Knicks (13-22) will count on Kenyon Martin, Andrea Bargnani and Amar’e Stoudemire to produce at both ends of the floor down low with Chandler out.

Chandler first came down with the illness on Sunday. He left the Knicks’ game against Dallas that night in the first quarter and has not practiced or played since.

In other injury news, the Knicks may also be without point guard Beno Udrih on Saturday. Udrih suffered a knee injury in the team’s win against Detroit on Tuesday. An MRI taken Wednesday revealed that Udrih has inflammation of the left tibiofibular joint.

Forward Metta World Peace and guard Pablo Prigioni are also unlikely to play vs. the Sixers.
