New York Knicks Rumors: Carmelo Anthony reportedly eyeing Chicago Bulls

It’s been an interesting year for Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks to say the least.

His future in New York has been dissected and the more the Knicks struggle, the stronger the possibility of Anthony leaving the Big Apple becomes.

We have already heard about both the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers as potential landing spots for Melo and now apparently you can throw the Chicago Bulls into the mix as well.

According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Bulls are a real possibility.

Anthony wants to play for a winner, but desperately wants to play in a big market because of his business ventures — his Jordan Brand sneaker line, his PowerCoco energy drink, his watch deal.

That is why New York, Los Angeles, where he has a home, and even Chicago are on his short list, according to a source. The source said the Clippers — with buddy Chris Paul — are more attractive than the Lakers, though the purple-and-gold have cap space and the Clips don’t.

The Bulls would intrigue Anthony, too, because he has a lot of respect for coach Tom Thibodeau, according to a source.

Chicago would have to clear cap space for Melo, something you bet they will do as Luol Deng and others have been rumored as possible trade candidates by the Bulls.

Melo is a smart guy and you have to believe he knows that he’s likely never going to win in New York. He looks at his legacy and wants to be known as a winner and not just a great scorer.

The longer this season goes, the stronger these rumors will become.

It’s a forgone conclusion that Anthony will opt out at the end of the year.

If you still believe it’s a guarantee that he stays in New York, you are fooling yourself as with each passing day it seems more likely he will bolt.
