It’s nice to have some winning basketball again. Granted, the New York Knicks only beat the pretty lowly Brooklyn Nets and Orlando Magic, but it’s much better than that miserable losing streak. The Knicks are back to doing things that made them successful last season: defending in spurts, passing the ball around the perimeter, sharing the ball freely, and most importantly, making much more shots. In turn, it’s a lot more fun to watch, and the Knicks are cresting some nice highlights in the process.
One such highlight came in last night’s beatdown of the Magic. Iman Shumpert, who’s been noticeably aggressive with the media in response to all the losing and trade rumors, has bounced back these last two games. He’s actually said that he’s angry. As a result, he took some anger out on the rim last night:
Mmmm. It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Shump stuff it like that. People worried about his knees and his explosiveness: worry not, he looks good. Of course, as Mike Breen is saying just before the play, the game is a lot more fun when players are sharing the ball. Some quick ball movement, penetration, and a skip pass from J.R. Smith sets Shump up for the drive. And the finish was just oh so tasty.
