New York Knicks: Has Iman Shumpert lost his swagger?

New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert’s name has been run through the rumor mill almost every day over the course of the past couple weeks.

While it doesn’t seem to effect his play on the court, as Shumpert is one of the lone Knicks players playing well at both ends of the floor, you have to wonder how the swirling rumors are effecting him mentally.

Hearing your name involved in trade rumors is often difficult to deal with for a young player and if you as Knicks legend Walt Frazier it is having an impact.

Frazier told the New York Post’s Marc Berman that Shumpert has “lost his swagger.”

“He’s always been a very confident guy,’’ Frazier told The Post before the Knicks’ 92-86 loss to the Pistons. “I think he just has to find his role. Sometimes he doesn’t look like he’s happy out here. Maybe that’s because he heard the rumors he’s being traded. But he’s very stern in his face. It doesn’t look like he’s having fun.’’

Judging by the third-year guard’s facial expressions that very well could be the case.

Shumpert should be angry, but he should also let his play do the talking for him.

It would be nice to see Shump keep that same swagger on the floor he had as a rookie and go out and show the organization they are making a mistake.

So far the rumors haven’t effected the youngsters play, but the rumors won’t quit and you have to wonder how he will deal with it going forward.
