The New York Knicks first round draft pick Tim Hardaway Jr. comes into a deep Knicks team with a crowded backcourt.

What will his role be on the Knicks then?

Hardaway Jr. was a sharp shooter in college, with his three point shot being a strength and his three point percentage going up every season at Michigan, he could be taken off the bench in moments the Knicks are desperate for scoring.

He can provide a spark off the bench when called upon. Also, he is off to a great start in the preseason including making a game winning shot against the Boston Celtics. It is only preseason, but maybe he can perform in the clutch. If he can it would be a huge addition to the clutch sharpshooters J.R. Smith and Carmelo Anthony.

Hardaway will also have to fill in for Smith while he serves his five-game suspension and recovers from knee surgery. Smith will be out a minimum five games to serve his suspension for a failed drug test. Hardaway will get many more minutes to try and fill that void. Hardaway will have to score and make smart decisions to hold down the spot.

Hardaway has also looked really good playing alongside Iman Shumpert and Metta World Peace in the preseason thus far.

The trio are causing turnovers and scoring fast break points with ease, making it look very easy. Hardaway could play alongside them more in the season the synergy between them continues between the three of them.
