New York Knicks: Toure Murry should make Knicks roster

With cuts being made in the near future, there’s a lot on uncertainty to who will make the final roster spots for the New York Knicks, but one player who should be an easy choice is Toure Murray.

He’s scored double digits in 3 out of 4 pre-season games entering Wednesday’s night’s tilt against the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 14 points a game. He’s being consistent with scoring the ball off the dribble and playing tough defense on guards with his 6’5” frame.

The 23-year-old had to adjust and change positions from a shooting guard to a point guard, but has made the transition look easy.

“He’s been playing well lately”, said head coach Mike Woodson. “We’ve been asking a lot from him, moving positions and giving him more responsibilities”.

Carmelo Anthony is also impressed with the former Wichita State guard on his chemistry with team and his future in the NBA. “He has a bright future in the league” said Anthony. “He’s learning play calling and positioning, and works hard on both sides of the court.”

The Knicks have enough guards on their roster, but can use his youth and athleticism. The season is a long stretch and the organization can benefit from developing him playing alongside the veterans.

“He will learn from veteran guards Pablo Prigioni, Raymond Felton and Beno Udrih,”said Anthony.

The team is also looking into keeping two big men as well. Top big men taken into consideration this preseason have been Ike Diogu and Josh Powell. Both players have performed well when given their minutes.

With a week left before the season opener, it will be interesting to see what direction the Knicks go.
