New York Knicks Rumors: Knicks getting another look at Cole Aldrich

The New York Knicks can still add up to three more players by the time training camp starts in the next couple of weeks.

You can almost be assured that one of those players that gets a camp invite will be a center as the Knicks are still looking for insurance to back up All-Star Tyson Chandler.

That man could be former lottery pick Cole Aldrich.

The Knicks got a look at the Kansas product a couple weeks ago and plan on getting another up close look.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jared Zwerling, Aldrich will be brought back for a second workout this week after looking strong in his last audition.

A source told Zwerling that the Knicks “are definitely taking a long look at the Kansas product.”

In addition to Aldrich, the Knicks appear to still be looking hard at Hassan Whiteside and  DeSagana Diop.

On the surface Aldrich seems like a guy who could help the Knicks off the bench.

He doesn’t have much of an offensive game, but can finish around the basket when needed. He also has come a long way as a defender and rebounder since his rookie season, which is all the Knicks would really need him to do.

With no backup center currently on the roster, you have to think whoever they sign will have a legitimate chance of making the final roster out of camp.

In addition to taking another look at Aldrich, Zwerling also reports that the Knicks are taking a look at some athletic wing players as they will be without J.R. Smith for at least the early part of the season.
