New York Knicks Rumors: Is New York getting a second All-Star Game?

By now, mostly everyone knows the New York Knicks are getting the 2015 NBA All-Star Game, as the NBA announced that the Knicks and Brooklyn Nets will be splitting the event.

But could the NBA All-Star Game return to the Big Apple just a few years later?

New York may be hosting two All-Star games between 2015 and 2018, writes Fred Kerber of the New York Post.

The way things are set up now, the 2015 All-Star game will be played at Madison Square Garden, while the Friday night and Saturday events will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

However according to Kerber, multiple sources have confirmed that the league, along with the Knicks and Nets, are in negotiations about a proposal involving a reversal of roles in 2017 or 2018, where Barclays takes on Sunday’s main event and MSG hosts the other festivities.

Nothing has been finalized as of yet but it looks like the city of New York will be getting a pair of All-Star Game’s,  which is a big deal.

New York is already considered a mecca of basketball, and bringing a pair of NBA All-Star Games to town just adds to its already impressive list of notable events in the city’s rich basketball history.

The city hasn’t hosted an All-Star Game since 1998, when Michael Jordan took home MVP in the Garden and then-19-year-old Kobe Bryant became the youngest All-Star in the event’s history.
