The Pelicans seemed to have lost their patience with their rebuild, but that’s not all that bad as they landed some talent.

They now have a very intriguing backcourt with Evans, Holiday, Austin Rivers and Eric Gordon. But that could mean that Gordon is about to go as it will be a struggle to get all of these guys enough minutes.

I do like the Holiday deal. Del Demps gets a guy who made the All-Star team last year at the age of 22 and while Holiday’s game isn’t spectacular, it is very good. And they got him for a young big man in Noel who was coming off of knee surgery.

The Evans deal comes at a decent price, but as of now he isn’t going to start and he is still a player who peaked as a rookie. I’m a little less thrilled about Evans than the addition of Holiday.

The Pelicans still need a canter and a small forward and unless they can deal Gordon and get those pieces coming back, the Evans signing makes little sense.

But they are a much more talented team now than they were at this point a season ago so the Pelicans get a passing grade.

Grade: B+
