Nets’ owner Mikhail Prokhorov said he wasn’t going to hold back when he bought the team and he has shown that he isn’t afraid to make bold moves. But despite all the moves and an upcoming luxury tax penalty likely approaching three figures, there are still a lot of questions with this Nets team.

The Kirilenko move was nice, especially for $3 million, but I still have doubts about the blockbuster trade with the Celtics. If this were 2008 or 2009, there would be no doubt that bringing in Garnett and Pierce would put the Nets over the top, but unfortunately for them it is 2013.

Did this trade actually make them title contenders?

Despite the inflated payroll, all the Nets likely did was make themselves a certain top four team in the east. They are better for sure, but rookie head coach Jason Kidd is going to have his hands full.
