New York Knicks Rumors: Why Knicks must target Toure Murry

So far in the offseason the New York Knicks have only solidified their need for a wing by drafting Tim Hardaway Jr. and picking up Metta World Peace through free agency but their need for a big man and a third string point guard still remain.

There is no indication on the big man situation besides the fact that the Knicks have interest in re-signing Kenyon Martin but there have been a lot of players that have been rumored to be linked with the third string point guard role for the Knicks but no one has said anything about Summer League sensation Toure Murry.

Guys like Sebastian Telfair, Nate Robinson, or Delonte West would not be wise moves by the Knicks.

They are all better shooters then they are distributers and in a third string point guard you’re looking to have fundamental basketball being executed.

Murry is the perfect player for the Knicks to pick up. This guy is a distributer, has the potential to be a big scorer, athletic, and is a lockdown defender. Murry has an inconsistent perimeter shot but when he is driving to the rim there is no one who can stop him as he utilizes his athleticism and size to his advantage, sometimes pulling out some audacious layups in the process.

In my opinion, Murry has been the standout player from the Knicks Summer League team.

He has been the most consistent, and with the Knicks first choice point guard Chris Smith having been out of his groove this whole tournament, Murry has taken over the floor general role and has been great for the Knicks seeing his minutes leap from 11 to 22 over the course of the first three games.

Murry’s ability to space the floor in unimaginable. He is a point guard that can do it all. He is physical so he’s in the paint quite often either going to the rim for a layup, trying to pass it out, or attempting to grab an offensive rebound. He has a perimeter shot but at times it is inconsistent but when he is on his game there is no stopping his shot falling.

Adding Murry to the Knicks would not only help add some youth to a veteran team but it would allow for the Knicks to bring a bit more explosiveness off of the bench, and with J.R. Smith out for 3-4 months, the Knicks are going to need all the explosiveness that they can get.
