Carmelo Anthony Injury Update: 'Melo targets Wednesday return

It’s been an ugly road trip for the New York Knicks, losers of four straight games, playing the past two without their superstar Carmelo Anthony.

The bad news is that according to New York Newsday’s Al Iannazzone. Anthony will miss his third consecutive game Monday night when his Knicks pay visit to the Utah Jazz.

But there potentially is a bit of good news though as the New York Post’s Marc Berman and New York Daily News’ Frank Isola both report that Anthony has no cartilage damage in his injured knee and is hoping for a Wednesday return to the lineup against the Orlando Magic.

That’s great news for the Knicks as they could be staring a fifth consecutive loss right in the face and as a result could see their Atlantic Division lead evaporate by the time ‘Melo returns to the lineup.

However even if Anthony does return against the  Magic, you have  to wonder how effective he will be as he looked very rusty after last time he returned to the lineup after missing time with injury.

Anthony returned to the Knicks lineup against the Golden State Warriors after missing three games and made only 4-of-15 shots from the floor. Then there is the fact that ‘Melo is shooting only 36 percent from the floor, 16.7 percent from behind the arc and is averaging only 18.2 points in the month of March, while playing in only five of a possible 10 games.

Either way, his potential return to the lineup on Wednesday is a blessing as this Knicks team can use all the help they can get.
