New York Knicks Trade Rumors: Knicks trade Ronnie Brewer to Thunder

The New York Knicks look to be a team that needed to make a move to improve for the stretch run.

That didn’t happen as the Knicks held onto Iman Shumpert, but they did make a small move involving Ronnie Brewer.

According to Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Knicks have agreed to a deal that will send Brewer to the Thunder in exchange for a second-round pick. The pick coming to the Knicks will be the Thunder’s own 2014 selection.

In the last 10 games, Brewer, who is mired in a horrible shooting slump, has played more than five minutes only once.

The Knicks were shopping Brewer all day to clear a roster spot as they were at the maximum amount of 15 players and didn’t want to release someone and eat their contract.

Now that they have freed up a roster spot, expect the Knicks to add a body via free agency.

They have been linked to both Lou Amundson and Kenyon Martin for some time now, but another option could be to wait until March 1 to see who gets bought out by their current teams.

That could happen to a guy like Jermaine O’Neal, who the Knicks were rumored to be trying to acquire from the Phoenix Suns as early as Wednesday.
