NBA Rising Stars 2013: Player Pool Announced

The player pool for the 2013 BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, which will be played on Friday of All-Star Weekend, was announced Wednesday afternoon and it did not include New York Knicks’ guard Iman Shumpert.

Shumpert, who had an outstanding rookie season a year ago, was passed over for the game then and because he has been injured for most of the 2012-13 campaign, he had very little chance of making it this year.

The rookies are headlined by Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard, while the sophomore team features Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving.

The rest of the eligible players to be drafted by Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal look like this:

Being the oldest team in the NBA, only Shumpert had a chance to make the game for the Knicks, who were represented a year ago by both Landry Fields and Jeremy Lin, who both are no longer with the franchise.
