Amar’e Stoudemire appears ready to return to the New York Knicks.
According to Yahoo! Sports’Adrian Wojnarowski, Stoudemire will make his 2012-13 season debut when the Knicks host the Portland Trail Blazers this Tuesday night.
Wojnarowski also noted that Stoudemire is going to come off on the bench, regardless of Carmelo Anthony’s status.
It’ll be interesting to see how many minutes Knicks’ head coach Mike Woodson gives Stoudemire in his first game, especially since he says he is only at about 80 percent. However with the Knicks banged up at the moment and the supporting cast not doing much, the Knicks need whatever Stoudemire can give them.
I’m sure Woodson will ease the Stoudemire back into the rotation rather than send him out for an extended period of time, but even in only limited minutes, Stoudemire can offer some production.
Stoudemire is officially listed as questionable by the Knicks, but is expected to play unless something happens in the hours leading up to the game.
Anthony is also listed as questionable with a hyperextended knee. ‘Melo has missed the past two games and it is doubtful he plays in this one. He participated in part of the Knicks’ practice Monday, working on conditioning and shooting, and he said afterward that he lacked power and lift in his knee.
