Jason Kidd Shows He's Still Clutch in win vs. Nets

Veteran point guard Jason Kidd was signed in the offseason to be a tutor to the Knicks’ young point guard, but in the process they found themselves a leader.

Coming into the season, very few expected Kidd to be a fixture at the shooting guard spot, but Kidd has thrived in the role and the Knicks are better because of it,

Knicks’ center Tyson Chandler played a big role in Kidd signing with the Knicks, actively recruiting him to the Big Apple and Knicks’ fans are glad he did.

Kidd gives the Kicks that leader they were missing. Sure Carmelo Anthony is a leader, as well as Chandler, but you can never have too many players in that type of role.

Here’s a guy once known to be just a fantastic distributor, but couldn’t knock down a jumper to save his life early in his career. Being the type off pro that he is, Kidd realized that and worked on his shooting.

The results have him third in history when it comes to knocking down the three-point shot.

This year he has been nothing short of outstanding from behind the arc, knocking down 52.8 percent of his three-point attempts.

His perimeter shooting and spacing have helped the Knicks’ offense avoid falling into their worse instincts about ball-stopping.

Tuesday night, Kidd finished his night the same way he began it, by knocking down a big three.

He has been everything the Knicks could have hoped for and more. You can’t put a value on a player like Kidd. That’s how much he has meant. He has been good for everyone in the Knicks locker room, especially Anthony.

At the end of the day, people will see Kidd’s game-winning three against the Nets as his welcome to New York moment, but in actuality, that moment happened before training camp even started, helping organize pre-camp workouts.

The Knicks are a different looking team from a season ago and Kidd is a major part of that.
