Kurt Thomas: I Never Think About Retiring

At 40 years old, most people have a hard time going outside for a walk or a run. However, at 40, Kurt Thomas is still competing with some of the world’s best athletes.

The New York Knicks forward may be older than every single one of his teammates, but he is still looking forward to playing another 82-game season. Despite the fact that Thomas has played 17 years in the league, the forward is not looking at retirement yet. He is a reliable player off the bench and the Knicks can surely benefit from having him on the court.

Thomas spoke to the New York Daily News and he talked about his desire to stay in the NBA until no franchise wants him on its roster.

“I never think about retiring,” Thomas said. “Until no one wants my services anymore, then I’ll start thinking about that. But until then I’m always focusing on the next season.”

Thomas was acquired by the Knicks this summer as part of the Raymond Felton deal with the Portland Traiblazers. He still has the ability to knock down a mid-range jumper and he is another body to throw at the league’s best centers.

This will be Thomas’ second stint with the Knicks and he is hoping this stay will result in an NBA championship.
