Knicks Set to Play Pistons in London on Jan. 17

The New York Knicks are headed across to pond for a basketball game in London.

The NBA usually hosts several pre-season games overseas, but in the 2012-13 season, the league will be holding regular season games outside NBA arenas. ESPN reports that the Knicks will be playing the Detroit Pistons on Jan. 17 at the O2 Arena in London. Fans in London have been very welcoming to the NBA in the past and they will surely enjoying seeing the talented Knicks team play in their city.

“I am excited to show our great fans in London what New York basketball is about,” he [Mike Woodson] said in a statement. “For Carmelo Anthony and Tyson Chandler to return to the city where they helped Team USA win the gold makes it even more special for our team.”

This is the third time the NBA will host a regular season game in London, with two of them occurring Mar. 2011 when the New Jersey Nets and Toronto Raptors squared off twice. Both game were sold out and one can expect the same result for this game.
