New York Knicks add 2 to Coaching Staff

New York Knicks head coach Mike Woodson has finally finished adding to his coaching staff, although it wasn’t much of a secret who would gain the final spot.

LaSalle Thompson has long been rumored to be a favorite to land one of the assistant jobs and that became reality on Tuesday. Thompson played in the NBA for 15 seasons and was a teammate of Woodson’s in Sacramento.

In addition, former Penn State head coach Jerry Dunn will join Woodson’s staff.

Dunn was 117-121 in eight years at Penn State, resigning in 2003. He most recently was the associate head coach at Michigan from 2007-’09.

Both Thompson and Dunn replace the highly regarded Kenny Atkinson, who quit to join the Atlanta Hawks staff.

They join the likes of Chris Ford as a coaching consultant and Dave Hopla, who was hired as a shooting coach.
