New York Knicks Tournament: Finding Out Which Knicks Team is the Best

Now that the Olympics are over and there is some down time until the start of training camp, I felt the need to come up with a creative idea to pass the time with news being slow until the season starts.

What we are going to do here at Buckets Over Broadway is hold a tournament to crown the best New York Knicks team of all-time.

The way it works is simple. Thirty-two different Knicks teams from 1950 until 2013 have made the field. To qualify, a team had to finish the season over .500.

Each day a matchup will be featured and the rules are easy- win and you advance.

This will be done just like the NCAA Tournament with four regions, concluding with the Final Four and eventually crowning a champion.

How does a team win and advance? That’s entirely up to you as we have left this open to our readers to decide who wins each matchup. All you have to do is vote on the daily poll on the front page or vote on our Facebook page. Whichever team has the most votes that day advances to the next round.

Here’s a look at how the brackets shape up:

East Region

(1) 1972-73 vs. (8) 1950-51

(2) 1994-95 vs. (7) 1977-78

(3) 1997-98 vs. (6) 1982-83

(4) 1983-84 vs. (5) 1970-71

Southeast Region

(1) 1992-93 vs. (8) 1951-52

(2) 1996-97 vs. (7) 1967-68

(3) 1971-72 vs. (6) 2010-11

(4) 1991-92 vs. (5) 1973-74

Midwest Region

(1) 1993-94 vs. (8) 1958-59

(2) 2012-13 vs. (7) 1953-54

(3) 1999-00 vs. (6) 1989-90
