The New York Knicks’ 48th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, Kostas Papanikolaou, will not be playing for the team next season. Instead, his agent expects his client to be suiting up for the Knicks for the 2013-14 season, New York Post.
“He definitely wants to play in the NBA, it’s a lifelong dream of his,’’ Agent Marc Cornstein told The Post. “He’s playing at the highest level in the Greek League and it’s the next step. He’s anxious to play sooner than later. He wanted the right fit with the right team and the Knicks we would’ve handpicked.’’
Papanikolaou currently plays for Olympiacos, an elite basketball team in Greece. Still, the chance to play in the NBA is something that intrigues the player and the Knicks can expect him very soon.
The fact that Papanikolaou has had professional experience in Europe is something that will impressive the coaching staff. He understands the game well and will certainly be a nice addition to the team.
