New York Knicks rookie Iman Shumpert was named to the NBA’s All-Rookie First Team. Shumpert received 40 votes in the poll, enough to earn him a spot on the coveted roster. Shumpert joins six other rookies, headlined by Cavaliers’ Kyrie Irving and Timberwolves’ Ricky Rubio.
In the 2011-12 season, Shumpert averaged 9.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists. However, Shumpert was praised for his defensive attack and he averaged nearly two steals per game.
Shumpert was the Knicks’ best perimeter defender and often guarded the opponent best scorer. Although he was not very heralded coming out of college, the Knicks got a great draft pick in Shumpert.
