The New York Knicks have waived swingman Bill Walker and have signed center Dan Gadzuric. The Knicks want to add more depth to their frontcourt as the post-season nears and signing a player like Gadzuric gives them another big man off the bench.
Amar’e Stoudemire may be a little rusty coming back from his injury, so bringing in Gadzuric gives the coaching staff some flexibility, New York Post. Also, Gadzuric will offer Stoudemire some resting time and can pick up fouls on the opponents’ big men. The Knicks cannot afford to let Stoudemire get into foul trouble, and need him on the court whenever needed.
“It gives us another big,” Woodson said. “Just in case Jared is not able to come back from his rest. It gives us a veteran big that’s been around that could use fouls and rebound.”
The Knicks have also waived Walker, a player who has been with the team for several seasons. Walker has not seen a lot of playing time lately, and it was in the best interest of both parties to part ways.
