GameDay Preview: Knicks-Raptors

The Knicks enter play tonight having won all three of their games since Mike Woodson has taken over as head coach, and with the Raptors being their opponents during tonight’s game, there isn’t much reason to believe that the winning streak will stop there.

The Raptors are currently struggling through a 15 win season which has seen them lose to the league-worst Charlotte Bobcats twice.  The Dinos have lost 6 of their last 10 games and have been without their starting point guard Jose Calderon who sprained his ankle on March 10th against the Pistons, however he will return to the lineup this evening giving them a little added firepower on the offensive end of the floor.

On paper it seems like an easily winnable game for the Knicks, however this Raptor team is feisty and has been known to play up to the level of their opponents–see their game against Memphis last week as evidence of the this.In order to pull out this W the Knicks are going to have to stop the Raptors scoring duo of Andrea Bargnani and DeMar DeRozan.

Offensively the Knicks should be able to take advantage of Bargnani  by running a number of screen and roll plays for Amar’e Stoudemire. If the Knicks can take advantage of this match-up on offense, and stop the Raptors big two on defense, than this will be an easy W for the Knicks.

Game time is 7:30
