New York Knicks coach Mike Woodson just recently took the head job from Mike D’Antoni and has already implemented a different offensive system. The system will rely on the star players and their ability to beat opponents in isolation plays. This is quite the antithesis of D’Antoni’s offense which was point guard heavy, and one in which Jeremy Lin thrived in.
Lin was a great piece with D’Antoni and when he was the main player for the lineup, the Knicks played extremely well and won seven consecutive games.
However, coach Woodson said that he will stick with Lin and the Harvard grad will remain in the Knicks’ starting five.
“Jeremy is a big part of what we do. He’s our starting point guard,” said Woodson. “He and I are on the same page. I thought the other night he played extremely well. We played well as a group.”
The Knicks need a collective team effort if they want to make a push in the playoffs. However, with more isolation play coming up with Woodson, it seems as though there will be lack of ball movement in the Knicks’ offense.
