Melo or D'Antoni?

The Knicks lose once again. Time is running out for this team and to make matters worse, tonight we will be facing one of the top teams in the NBA, the Chicago Bulls. What’s wrong with the Knicks? They don’t seem to have a identity and I think that’s the problem. Melo and some other players are not suited for D’Antoni’s system. Prior to Melo’s trade, D’Antoni had the perfect team to fit his style of play; however, that all changed when they gutted the team for Melo, which I do not regret.

Some of us knew when the Knicks got Melo that he would struggle with this system. We also felt that he would eventually get accustomed to it. We’re still waiting. We are all frustrated and we can blame this or that, but the fact of the matter is that in order for us to succeed, one of them has to go. The most likely candidate is Mike D’Antoni, who is on the last year of his contract.

He basically traded the team for him. Mike D’Antoni is forcing his run and gun system and it is not working. The fix is either trade Melo and get a player(s) that can run D’Antoni’s system or fire the coach and get a coach who can suit Melo’s style of play. If it was up to me, I would get a new coach (Phil Jackson?). I would go after  a defensive coach who would bring out Melo’ s strengths.

One of things I would like to see the coach do with Melo is have him post up more. Melo is an amazing player and if he was to get more touches at the post, his field goal percentage would improve dramatically. This team shouldn’t be where they’re at right now. We are much better than this. The Knicks do not need to make any trades, the coach is the problem (No offense, Coach, but this is not the right team for you). I think the time is now to get a new coach. I wouldn’t be surprised if D’Antoni’s days are numbered.
