Mike D'Antoni on the Hot Seat After Fifth Consecutive Loss

The New York Knicks lost their fifth consecutive game today, this time from the hands of the Atlantic Division leading Philadelphia 76ers. The Knicks could not limit the well balanced Sixers and lost more ground in the race for the division lead.

Even though Tyson Chandler returned to the lineup for the Knicks, Sixers guard Louis Williams poured in 28 points and the team walked away with a 106-94 victory. To make matters worse for the New York Knicks coaching staff, the Garden crowd let their voice be heard as the game winded down.

New York fans are known for their enthusiasm and although the city is the best place to win, it is also the worst place to lose.

With the emergence of Jeremy Lin it looked like Mike D’Antoni’s job was saved; however, after losing five consecutive games, the Knicks fans at the game chanted ‘Fire D’Antoni.’

If New York does in fact slide farther down the standings, D’Antoni may be handed the pink slip.
