The New York Knicks could not overcome the Celtics’ late rally and fell victim to Rajon Rondo’s historic triple-double. Carmelo Anthony had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but instead, the match went into overtime and the Celtics pulled away, 115-111. Anthony was clearly devastated in the locker-room as he had a chance to lead the Knicks to a victory.
However, Anthony was more upset with the foul he committed on Rajon Rondo with less than a second left in the first half. The Knicks held a 12-point lead with less than five minutes remaining in the second period, but after Anthony’s foul on Rondo with .9 seconds remaining, the Celtics cut the lead down to five, 56-51 at half-time.
“Coach has confidence in me,” Anthony said. “That was just a bonehead play on my part.”
Still, at the end of the day, Anthony and the Knicks had a chance to win at the buzzer. Although the shot didn’t go in, the ball should always go to Anthony late in the game.
